Piódão Portuguese is the most distant of the parish council of Arganil, with 36.36 km square area and 224 inhabitants (2001). Density: 6.2 inhabitants / km ². The parish includes the following villages and farms: Piódão, Malhada Chã, Chãs d'Égua, Tojo, Fórnea, Foz d `Égua, Barreiros, Covita, Torno, Young and Young Fundeiro Summit.
The village of Piódão, is located on a slope of the Sierra goshawk. The dwellings have the traditional walls of schist, the roof covered with slabs and doors and windows of wood, painted blue. The thing that gives artificial light during the night together by the provision of housing has meant that received the name of "Village Presepio." The people devote themselves, especially, agriculture (corn, potatoes, beans, vine), the creation of livestock (sheep and goats) and in some cases to beekeeping.
The flora is largely composed of chestnuts, olives, pine, heath and gorse. The fauna consists, above all, rabbits, hares, wild boars, foxes, doninhas, fuinhas, eagles, açores crows, gaios, perdizes and small rodents.
Currently, the desertification of the interior areas, affecting virtually all villages in this parish. The younger people emigrated to the alien or to the coastal areas in search of better conditions of life, returning with your sources, especially during the festive seasons to relive the past and if reencontrarem with their counterparts.
